Taiwan’s government has initiated simulations to assess the potential impact of proposed U.S. tariffs on its semiconductor industry. Economy Minister Kuo Jyh-huei has announced that the simulations will assess how these tariffs might impact Taiwan’s chip industry and prepare for talks between Taiwan, China, and the U.S. to ensure fair competition .

It is believed that the U.S. administration is considering imposing tariffs against imported pharmaceuticals and semiconductors in light of national security issues due to its dependence on foreign manufacturing. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s leading maker of chip contracts, has announced an investment of an additional $100 billion within the U.S., aiming to boost chip production in the United States and to maintain solid economic ties between the two countries amid changing trade policies .

Taiwan is proactively assessing the potential impact of U.S. tariffs on its semiconductor industry and has engaged with the U.S. in diplomatic efforts to minimize any negative impacts.
