Tesla’s First Step Toward Robotaxi Services
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has granted Tesla its first authorisation, enabling it to operate as a charter-party transportation provider. This permit allows Tesla to control a vehicle and also transport employees on scheduled trips.
What This Permit Means for Tesla
While the approval is a significant move, it’s not enough to give Tesla the capability of providing automated services for ride-hailing to its customers.
