Google is announcing a significant price cut for its Workspace business software suite designed for U.S. federal agencies, offering a discount of 71% under a new agreement in partnership with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The agreement, which runs until September 30th, 2025, will introduce an all-government pricing model that is based on usage volume instead of individual agency contracts.
If implemented fully, initial estimates suggest that this pricing system could cut the federal budget by as much as $2 billion. Its Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is led by Elon Musk, is leading efforts to reduce government IT costs, cut unnecessary contracts, and upgrade outdated technology.
