Microsoft Adjusts Data Center Partnership with OpenAI

Microsoft now lets OpenAI use data center services from other providers because of its partnership with the AI leader. The company made this decision during its partnership with Oracle and SoftBank to build the next generation of AI data centers worth $500 billion.

The new deal lets OpenAI work with Oracle and other leading tech firms to build AI research infrastructure and train models. OpenAI’s joint venture with Oracle and SoftBank under the Stargate project will expand U.S. AI data centers across the nation and strengthen America’s position in worldwide AI development. The starting part of this project needs $100 billion in investment and may grow to $500 billion in total.

Despite reducing its control over OpenAI’s data systems Microsoft will continue to possess exclusive rights to OpenAI’s API services to protect its financial position. OpenAI and Microsoft will split all revenue from their technology partnership over the next decade.

With Oracle and SoftBank funding the “Stargate” project the plan will both generate many new jobs and build crucial infrastructure needed for AI advancement. New businesses and AI researchers will create more valuable artificial intelligence systems through their access to the powerful data center processing capacity.

Through this alliance OpenAI will create advanced AI systems faster to help industries worldwide. The AI sector shows strong growth potential because Microsoft, Oracle, and SoftBank are putting major resources into AI infrastructure.
